  • Correct the following sentences and give a possible reason for the mistake.

    Example.

    I'm wanting an ice-cream. I want an ice-cream. Want is a state verb and cannot be used in the continuous.

    n.b. Just saying that it should be present simple instead of the present continuous IS NOT a reason. You must explain why.

  • Name the tense used, state why and give one teaching idea. (gives examples of the language that the teaching idea will have the students using).

    Example.

    I'm seeing the doctor at 3.00 tomorrow.

    Tense: present continuous to talk about a definite arrangement in the future.

    Teaching Idea: Students are given a diary with appointments for the coming week and students in pairs try to find times when they are both free.

  • Choose the correct form for the following:

    If I (go/went) to Australia, I would go to Melbourne.
