FAQs
FAQs

What will a TEFL certificate qualify me to teach?
A TEFL certificate holder is qualified to teach English in language academies, colleges, and private schools in the United States, and almost all institutions abroad.

What does TEFL stand for?
Teaching English as a foreign language. CTEFL: Certificate to Teach English as a foreign language.

Will there be any practice teaching?
There will be at least 6 hours of teaching practice with ESL students from the Boston area.

What distinguishes your course from other course?
Our partner school is the only course in Boston accredited by ACCET (American Council for Continuing Education and Training). ACCET has been officially recognized by the U.S. Department of Education, since 1978, as a “reliable authority” as to the quality of education and training provided by the institutions we accredit.
Trainers at our affiliate school in Boston have Master’s Degrees and more than five years experience.

Why is the price different in this location?
Course Costs depend on many things, including the economy of the country where the course is offered. Our costs are priced accordingly, and any difference in price does not reflect the quality of service received. Courses in Latin America, Asia, Africa and Eastern Europe tend to be more affordable, along with the housing options and living expenses there. Whereas, the United States, Canada and Western Europe are more expensive, reflective of their individual economies and overall cost of living in each country.

Is the same syllabus followed?
Not exactly, but the same core topics are covered. All of our affiliated TEFL schools follow a curriculum similar to ours. To successfully train TEFL teachers, a TEFL training school should cover topics such as classroom management, grammar awareness, and teaching skills, and include a component of teaching practice. Although each of our affiliated schools has their own syllabus, we teach the same information and cover the same core topics.

Is the quality of the course offered in Boston different than in Mexico?
No. The same quality is offered in any of our ITTO locations worldwide. Each affiliated school will have its own syllabus, trainers and course components, but they all teach a high quality course that will cover the same core components as our other TEFL certificate providers. Our network of schools is synonymous with quality. Don’t worry about which partner school you choose; they will all train you to be an excellent TEFL instructor.

Do the courses meet standard international guidelines?
Yes. In fact, some of our affiliate institutions, as well as our own, greatly surpass the international guidelines to assure you adequate preparation to teach EFL or ESL students. The international guidelines include the following:
4 weeks in duration
Minimum 106 hrs of training
Minimum 6 hrs of fully observed teaching practices with real students of English
Our program here in Guadalajara offers:
4 weeks of classes
140 hours of training
Minimum of 10 hours of fully observed teaching practice with authentic English students
A required 4 hours of observing real experienced TEFL/TESL teachers in the classroom.

What accommodation options do you offer in your TEFL partner schools?
Our suggested types of accommodation may vary from one location to the next. Here is a brief general description of the accommodations you may find in our partner school locations:
Apartments: Some of our affiliated schools offer the possibility to stay in a private or shared apartment. In apartments the options are endless. However our students tend to enjoy the option of having their own room and privacy.
Hostel facilities: Hostels offer options as well. Besides usually being the cheapest and most affordable option, generally you can choose from private, shared or even cheaper common areas for lodging. Hostels usually have communal showers and/or baths and a community kitchen that includes cookware and a place to store food. This is a good option for the budget traveler who doesn’t mind a lack of privacy.
Host families: Taking advantage of the opportunity to get to know a local family and their culture’s customs and traditions is a great experience. Students are normally given a private bedroom, sometimes a private bath depending on the household and at least one meal a day. This is an excellent option for those interested in becoming acquainted with other cultures.
Hotels: Discounts and improved rates are offered to our trainees in some of our partner school locations. Our affiliate schools are in contact with 3, 4 and 5 star hotels to assure quality accommodations. Depending on the location, hotels can be an affordable or very expensive option. You should check with us.
Most students choose to live in family home stays, in student residences, or in furnished apartments. With each of these options, we can assist you in finding housing.

Is the TEFL certificate I will obtain at any of your locations better than another?
No. The certificate you will earn at any of our locations is a credential accepted worldwide, no matter which of our partner schools issued it. That is to say, a TEFL certificate from our institution, ITTO, is equal to a TEFL certificate earned with one of our affiliates in Western Europe or anywhere else around the world. A TEFL certificate from ITTO or any of its partner schools certifies that the recipient has successfully completed a TEFL certificate program of at least 4 weeks duration, has had a minimum of 106 hours of training and has had a minimum of 6 hours teaching practice. You will find that different schools offer different programs and courses of study, but all certificates issued by ITTO and its affiliates worldwide are equally prestigious and accepted. Earning a TEFL certificate in France or Cost Rica will not make a difference when applying for TEFL jobs around the world, as long as you do have a certificate from a reputable training center such as any of ours.

Why should I choose ITTO?
ITTO and its affiliate schools are synonymous with quality. By choosing one of our partner schools you will be securing your future in the field of teaching English as a foreign language. Our instructors, methodologies, worldwide connections and well known reputation will not only prepare you, but will serve as proof that you are a professional.
But more than that, our program has successfully trained thousands of teachers around the world. Not only do our graduates tell us they feel prepared and confident in their new teaching positions, but schools around the world that have hired our trainees consistently contact us to hire more top quality teachers. We continually graduate teachers who carry the reputation as being at the top of their field. And our international recognition follows our students wherever they decide to teach.
Our students’ reviews are consistently positive and constructive, therefore our program is continually evolving to suit our students’ needs and be the most competitive institution in TEFL certification. We pride ourselves in our graduates’ success and encourage you to contact one today. If you’d like to hear firsthand about our program and what it can do for you, just contact us to receive contact information for some of our many graduates.

Will I get an ITTO certificate if I take the course in Boston?
No. If you undertake a TEFL certification program with any of our affiliates, you will receive a TEFL certification that is internationally accepted and is equal in prestige to ours. Only TEFL certificates issued by reputable providers are recognized around the world. You will only receive an ITTO certificate if you attend a course at one of our ITTO locations. Otherwise, you would receive an equally valid certificate from the affiliate school of your choice.

What type of trainers will be teaching the course?
Our trainers are required to have successfully taught at least 5 years and had a minimum of three years in EFL Teacher Training experience; however most of our trainers exceed this margin. Our trainers continue to be active teachers and therefore are fully aware of classroom situations that teachers are facing today. There is over 25 years experience in our training and management teams in the area of language schools and training institutes throughout the world. You could say we’ve been doing this a long time, perhaps the longest. Rest assured that we are amply experienced and have the reputation and contacts to prove it.

Does your network of schools usually help graduates from your TEFL partner schools to receive job contacts or temporary accommodations?
Yes. Our corporate offices will provide the details. Often employers contact our network of schools when they are looking for new teachers. We try to find suitable matches for the employer, and sometimes have an affiliated TEFL school near the employers’ location that we are able to recommend. So, yes, our corporate office does help graduates from other partner schools to receive job offers and assistance with temporary accommodation.

What benefits do I receive by joining ITTO and its network of schools?
The benefits are endless and among the best when comparing other TEFL institutes of our caliber. The prestige of a well established school like ITTO and our network schools cannot be surpassed. We are internationally recognized and offer our successful graduates a certification that is also internationally recognized among the world’s top EFL schools.
Besides a reputation that is unmatched, our job guidance assistance through our network of TEFL providers and EFL schools worldwide is hard to beat. Specifically, ITTO is willing to offer its graduates a Guaranteed Paid Job Placement Program that guarantees paid job placement anywhere in Mexico within just 2 weeks of completing our course. We can also offer you contacts worldwide if Mexico is not the teaching location of your choice. Our affiliate schools all have a Job Placement Assistance program that helps students to prepare for interviews and find and secure job placement, among other things. Each school’s guarantees will be different, so make sure to check with our head office.
We could go on and on, but each school is unique and offers its own culture, location, guarantees, trainers and course of study. However, one thing is common among our network of schools. Our quality TEFL teachers have created a reputation that is unbeatable, and our students are qualified successful teachers, happy with their training. We encourage you to contact a graduate today. Just contact us if you’d like to hear about our program firsthand. We’ll put you in contact with one of our graduates.

How safe is your Boston TEFL partner school?
It is one of the safest locations we offer our services. Although we don’t feel as though any of our locations serve as a threat to our students, we understand that foreigners can feel more secure in some locations rather than others for a multitude of reasons. Boston is one of those sites, and our students, while attending our course here, often explore the area on their own, feel comfortable walking alone, and never feel threatened. As in all large cities around the world, being cautious is the key to personal safety.

Will I enjoy my stay in your Boston TEFL partner school?
Yes. Our Boston school is located on the beach where you’ll be sure to enjoy the beautiful sun and waves of a typical laid back beach atmosphere. Our students love this location and take advantage of their free time by spending afternoons and weekends taking in their surroundings. This location is highly recommended for relaxation.
In the middle of a large city with all the benefits of an urban developed area. You will find excitement and never lack something to do or visit in your spare time. Everything you are used to is easily accessible and at your fingertips. For those that like to explore surrounding areas, there is easy and affordable transportation leaving at all times from our Boston school.
In a smaller city where you will benefit from a peaceful but developed area with most of the amenities of a large city.
