The TEFL Certificate Course
The goals of our TEFL Certificate course in Boston are to teach you in four weeks what will be of most value
to you throughout your career as an EFL/ESL teacher. Our Partner School's classes cover a wide range of
theoretical information such as: principles and methods of language teaching, needs analyses, goal
setting, learning styles, classroom interaction, lesson planning, syllabus and materials development,
and creating aims and objectives.
Classes also include such practical information as: the most effective use of the blackboard, and
communicative activities for effective pair/group work.
Becoming a good teacher means having lots of practice. Trainees in our course spend ten hours outside of
the class in observation of real ESL classes, and several hours in peer teaching. Trainees also participate
in a teaching practicum where they teach actual ESL students. This courses exposure to actual teaching
scenarios will provide you with the edge you require inside an actual functioning classroom.
The main components of the course are:
- Principles and methods of language teaching. In this section of the course you will be guided through
the pillars and foundations of teaching English as well as introduced to the various teaching styles and
most effective learning methods to date. This is the first aspect of the program due to its vital importance
and basic necessity for structuring the more complex framework of the course content.
- Needs analysis and goal setting. This part of the program will introduce you to the prioritization of your
class management as well as objective listing. When presenting the class the teacher must clearly define
what is required to be covered in the day’s class and determine material and linguistic functions that
must be covered in order to effectively teach his/her students. These are the aims of this module.
- Learning styles. When you have a class of 20 to 25 students you will realize that not everybody learns
the same way. This section of the program covers the different and most common learning styles as well as
how to effectively prepare classes for each of them.
- Classroom interaction. A class that follows a straight line will always be boring and dull which will
become counterproductive for the learning process. For this reason, this module focuses on how teachers
should manage interaction among his/her students to stimulate the learning process and create "active
learning environments".
- Lesson planning. This is one of the most crucial sections of the course since it is here that you will
learn how to prepare an effective class and all of the previous sections will come together. Counting
with well structured lesson plans will guarantee the success of your entire class management and
advancement.
- Development of syllabus and classroom material. All classes must follow an organized and logical thread.
Through this section of the course you will learn to create learning guidelines and reference materials
as well as class activities.
- Creating goals and objectives. This section very much speaks for itself. In this part of the program you
will learn how to set your class aims and evaluate your students' progress.
Grading Policy
Student grades, pass, low pass, or fail are based on the following:
- Preparation of class lessons

As you can see, this course will provide you with all the necessary tools to become an excellent EFL teacher
thanks to its meticulously planned course structure and excellent content.
